Lawson Strengthens Technology Stack with IBM’s Enterprise Service Bus

Expanded partnership simplifies application foundation for enterprise services and business applications

ST. PAUL, Minn. (March 05, 2007) – Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) and IBM announced today they have expanded their technology partnership by incorporating additional middleware from IBM, including IBM WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus, into Lawson System Foundation. The strengthened technology stack includes Lawson’s own technology optimized to work with IBM’s open, industry standards-based middleware. This solution provides a comprehensive service-oriented architecture (SOA)-based production and integration platform for global mid-market organizations as well as larger organizations desiring a simpler approach.

Lawson System Foundation offers more cost-effective and faster integration with enterprise applications and business processes in a service-oriented architecture. Lawson S3 System Foundation previously included IBM’s leading WebSphere Application Server (WAS) ND, but has enhanced it with new, vertical scaling options. Like WAS, Tivoli Directory Server and DB2 database continue to be offered with Lawson S3 System Foundation. The latest version now includes IBM WebSphere(R) Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) for services connectivity and messaging, providing more simplicity and business flexibility than traditional enterprise application integration.

Using Lawson Process Flow Integrator with the Enterprise Service Bus to build and implement SOA applications, customers can more easily integrate heterogeneous business applications and automate business processes.

“As global business requirements become more complex, IT environments need to become simpler and more adaptable,” said Dean Hager, senior vice president of product management, Lawson Software. “We’re making it easier for our customers to deploy a service-oriented architecture that gives them business flexibility and automation. And our customers are responding. In fact, Lawson S3 System Foundation has been adopted faster than any previous technology offerings from Lawson. Since its launch in February 2006, more than 400 customers have licensed it.”

For Lawson’s services industry (S3) customers who have already licensed Lawson S3 System Foundation, Lawson will provide the additional products and capabilities as part of their current license for no additional charge. For S3 customers that have yet to license Lawson S3 System Foundation, promotional pricing is available until May 21, 2007.

All customers in Lawson’s manufacturing and distribution (M3) industries that license the newly available Lawson M3 System Foundation will receive all of the Lawson M3 System Foundation runtime technology developed by Lawson as well as IBM WebSphere Application Server. Future releases of the Lawson M3 System Foundation may include additional, optional IBM components as they are optimized on Lawson M3 System Foundation.

“SOA is helping our customers drive the business flexibility and agility needed to help reach business goals,” said Sandy Carter, vice president, IBM WebSphere and SOA. “Working with partners like Lawson helps us provide mid-market and large companies with a complete SOA foundation needed to accomplish this while reusing existing IT assets and lowering total cost of ownership.”
