MONTREAL (September 22, 2008) – Epicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ: EPIC),
a leading provider of enterprise business software solutions to the midmarket and divisions of
Global 1000 companies, announced today at its Retail Perspectives 2008 user conference in
Montreal that the company has been named the leading vendor of Point-of-Sale (POS) software
to top specialty softgoods retailers in the recent report, Retailer’s Guide: POS Software for
Softgoods Retailers, published by global research and advisory firm IHL Group.
The report evaluated vendors of POS software installed among the top 250 retailers in
the specialty softgoods space and ranked the top 10, with Epicor topping the list. Vendor
rankings were based on total number of vendor accounts among the leading 250 softgoods
retailers, estimated number of POS systems running the vendor’s software based on store
count and lanes per store data, and the retail revenue represented by vendor accounts. When
it comes to POS software solutions for softgoods retailers, the report found Epicor Retail has
more clients, installations, and managed retail revenue than Micros, Oracle, JDA, SAP, and any
other POS software provider.
The report features a five-page profile of Epicor, which includes highlights on Epicor
Retail solutions, customers and strengths. Commenting on Epicor’s prominence in the POS
softgoods retail space, IHL analyst Jerry Sheldon said, “Bringing more than 30 years of retail
experience spanning both North America and Europe, Epicor displays thought leadership by
bringing top tier solutions to the midmarket, a market which has historically been underserved
by the largest vendors. Additionally, Epicor is well served by its strong company reputation,
extensive partner network, and impressive customer list.”
The study features an overview of the economic, technology and consumer trends
shaping the retail sector as well as key business challenges softgoods retailers seek to offset via the use of POS technology, such as price pressures, rising labor costs and the need to do
more with less. It also points to key trends in the industry that are dictating more emphasis on
POS systems as the central system of record as well as the need for more advanced features
and functionality.
“Epicor is pleased to be recognized as the leader in POS for the softgoods retail
space,” said David Henning, executive vice president and general manager for Epicor Retail.
“We are proud of our longstanding partnerships with leading softgoods retailers to help them
achieve their business objectives, streamline operations and enrich the customer shopping
experience.”
